Vogasel afterschool center

345m2 afterschool center for up to 150 youngsters with classrooms, art, computer and reading spaces. The primary structure is raw, in-situ, concrete that is exposed both internally and externally. Other internal walls and fittings are of oiled solid oak counterpoised with birch plywood, stainless steel, linoleum and gypsum. Seamless acoustic ceilings are used throughout the building with flush LED luminaires and HVAC diffusers. The windows are composite aluminium and wood in colours that complement the rusting untreated mild steel handrails that will change colour with the seasons. A grass roof doubles as a play/external teaching area thus minimising the building's footprint on the schoolyard.
